Despite the new additions to our uniforms and altered protocols, we are still loving and caring for our pet patients – including those in need of wellness and preventive medicine services.

Why Preventive Wellness is so Important

No matter what is going on in the world around us, our pets require wellness care – just like our human family members.

Preventive wellness examinations are a nose-to-tail check-up designed to help monitor your pet’s health and look for early signs of chronic health conditions. Our veterinarians also use this time to administer life-saving vaccines to pets of all ages.

The Benefits of Pet Vaccines

Vaccines and booster shots are designed to protect your pet (and you) from transmissible and zoonotic diseases that can cause serious health complications. A regular vaccination schedule is one of the best ways to prepare your pet’s immune system to stop harmful diseases.

Common dog vaccines include: Parvovirus, rabies, leptospirosis, lyme, canine influenza, canine distemper, and kennel cough.

Common cat vaccines include: Rabies, feline distemper, feline leukemia virus (FeLV), feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), and feline herpes virus (FHV).

If your pet is not vaccinated and comes in contact with any number of devastating disease agents shed by unvaccinated pets, your pet’s risk of severe illness or death is much, much higher.

Why Preventive Wellness is Important at Different Stages of Your Pet’s Life

When your pet is young, they must receive all vaccinations to prevent many of the common diseases that affect cats and dogs.

As your pet ages, wellness exams remain important to maintain a regular vaccine schedule to bolster immunity. Plus, the risk of age-related conditions such as cancer and heart disease increases, making screening for illnesses at their onset even more essential.

If your pet is in need of vaccines, booster shots, or other routine wellness care, please contact our team so we can provide further instruction.
