To better serve our pet patients and clients, as of August 5, 2020, Westfield Veterinary Group’s Union, New Jersey, location will suspend overnight hours and hospitalization of pets. Therefore, tonight, Monday, August 3, will be the last night we will admit patients for overnight admission.

We will remain open for 24/7 emergency care for exams, treatments, and discharge, Monday, August 3, and Tuesday, August 4.

Starting on Wednesday, August 5, our Union location will continue to welcome patients for emergency care every day from 7 am to 11 pm. After check-in, a veterinarian will examine your pet and complete a full work-up (including diagnostics and bloodwork), to provide a diagnosis and recommended treatment plan. Please call us ahead of time before you arrive at the hospital to establish the type of care your pet needs and so that we may prepare for your arrival.

Overnight Emergency Care

If your pet requires urgent care between 11 pm – 7 am, please contact our emergency referral partner, Garden State Veterinary Specialists at Iselin (GSVS) at (844) 937-4424. Additionally, we will direct pet patients and their families to GSVS for those illnesses or injuries that require more advanced care (overnight hospitalization, specific surgical procedures, etc.).

It is always our goal to provide the highest quality of care for all patients. Due to staffing shortages from the Coronavirus pandemic, we cannot ensure adequate coverage of skilled personnel for the third shift.

Please understand that the modification to our emergency hours is temporary, albeit necessary, to ensure the availability of the high-quality care and outstanding service that our pet community has come to know and rely on from us. We will notify you when we can resume normal operating hours.

In the meantime, we ask for your patience, cooperation, understanding, and empathy during these challenging times. And remember, every member of the Westfield Veterinary Group team is doing their absolute best for you and your pet.
