Dr. Jennifer E. Murphy was born in New York, but raised in horse country New Jersey. From a young age, she knew she wanted to care for animals. Originally, she pursued social work and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and a Master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University in 2007. After a year of practicing in equine assisted therapy for children, Dr. Murphy decided to follow her dream in becoming a veterinarian. Soon after, she graduated from University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine with her veterinary medical degree.
After graduation, Dr. Murphy completed a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, NJ. She decided to continue practicing in emergency medicine and joined the emergency department at Westfield Veterinary Group. Dr. Murphy enjoys all facets of veterinary medicine, but has strong interests in cardiology, surgery, trauma and critical care.
Dr. Murphy lives with her boyfriend and tenacious patterdale terrier, Nova Scotia. In her free time, Dr. Murphy is an equestrian, long distance runner and part-time yogi. She enjoys being outdoors, hiking, camping and exploring new cities.
