Wellness Care for Pets of Every Age

Consistent wellness care is the key to good health for your pet. When your pet visits the veterinarian regularly, they can assess their ever-changing health, monitor any developing conditions, and make adjustments to their preventive care as needed. Our pet wellness care visits are tailored to your pet’s age, breed, and lifestyle so that no exam looks the same.

How Often Should Your Pet Visit the Veterinarian?

For most younger pets, an annual wellness exam is enough to keep them on track. If your pet has a chronic condition that requires more frequent monitoring, such as diabetes, you may have to bring them in for checkups more often. And as they age, additional visits and screenings may be beneficial to catch issues before they become problematic.

Of course, if your pet has a health crisis, don’t hesitate to get them to our Union location (open till 11 pm) or the nearest after-hours emergency veterinary hospital

What to Expect at a Pet Wellness Visit

At our animal hospitals in Westfield and Union, we perform comprehensive wellness exams to catch any developing conditions before they get worse. Depending on your pet’s specific needs, their wellness visit may include any or all of the following:

  • Nose-to-tail physical exam
  • Weight check and body condition score
  • Vaccinations, if due for boosters
  • Fecal exam (to check for intestinal parasites)
  • Parasite prevention prescription
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Age-appropriate blood work
  • Urinalysis
  • Other diagnostics as needed

Care That Grows With Your Pet

Puppies and kittens have different health needs – as well as risks – than adult or senior pets.

That’s why Westfield Veterinary Group has developed preventive wellness programs tailored for pets at each stage of their lives.
