Westfield Closure Extended

In March 2020, we closed our Westfield location due to the Coronavirus pandemic and staffing shortages. We took this opportunity to make some long over-due construction updates to our older building and hoped to re-open by mid-August.

However, typical in the construction and remodeling process, some of the necessary changes to the interior and exterior are taking a bit longer than expected. Unfortunately, we do not have a final re-opening date for Westfield and apologize for touting an August re-opening in our previous emails.

Our entire staff misses our pet patients and clients deeply, and we can’t wait to serve you all in a newly renovated building!

Thank you to all of our wonderful clients for your continued patience, kindness, and understanding. We recognize the Westfield closure and the curbside services and hour changes at Union have been inconvenient, but please know that our goal remains the same – to provide the highest quality of care for all of our patients.

Changes in Unions Hours – Overnight Hours Suspended

To better serve our pet patients and clients, our location in Union, New Jersey has suspended overnight hours and hospitalization of pets.

Due to staffing shortages from the Coronavirus pandemic, we cannot ensure adequate coverage of skilled personnel for the third shift.

However, our dedicated emergency veterinary team will continue to welcome ill and injured pet patients from 7 am to 11 pm every day. After check-in, a veterinarian will examine your pet and complete a full work-up (including diagnostics and bloodwork), to provide a diagnosis and recommended treatment plan. Please call us ahead of time before you arrive at the hospital to establish the type of care your pet needs and so that we may prepare for your arrival.

When Your Pet Needs Emergency Care Overnight

If your pet requires urgent care between 11 pm – 7 am, please contact our emergency referral partner, Garden State Veterinary Specialists at Iselin (GSVS) at (844) 937-4424. Additionally, we will direct pet patients and their families to GSVS for those illnesses or injuries that require more advanced care (overnight hospitalization, specific surgical procedures, etc.).

Please understand that the modification to our emergency hours is temporary, albeit necessary, to ensure the availability of the high-quality care and outstanding service that our pet community has come to know and rely on from us. We will notify you when we can resume regular operating hours.

During these challenging times, we ask for your patience, cooperation, understanding, and empathy. And remember, every member of the Westfield Veterinary Group team is doing their absolute best for you and your pet.
